Grounded in a passion for Sailing, NEILPRYDE was founded by no one less than a man called Neil Pryde – a passionate Sailor, who founded his business developing yachting Sails. At the beginning of the 1970s, he decided to shift his business and focus on manufacturing sails for the trendy and upcoming sport of Windsurfing. While at the start he still manufactured sails for other brands, he soon decided to start his own windsurf sails brand, which marked the beginning of NEILPRYDE Windsurfing. JP-AUSTRALIA strives to deliver the most innovative, competitive and best quality boards available. The brand has been established in spring 1997. In the beginning, JP was a pure windsurfing brand, positioned on the market with an exclusive touch and a radical, hardcore wave and freestyle image. Today, JP covers all aspects of windsurfing, is a big player also in SUP and now focusses on foiling, too. The brand name stands for Jason Polakow (“JP”) from Australia. The No. 1 big wave sailor in the world and two times Wave World Champion is a legend in the sport of windsurfing. Jason’s impressive power and speed in wave sailing influenced the riding style for decades with major effects on today’s wave board shapes.
